Microsoft Teams is a collaboration and video conferencing platform that integrates with other Microsoft/Office 365 apps such as OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word. It is the ultimate app for hybrid working and education as it comes with many features all in one app such as messaging chat, channels, calling, video meetings, screen sharing, calendar, file sharing, webinars and external collaboration.
We have a separate guide for each of the following sections.
If you are experiencing issues using Teams there is also guidance in our troubleshooting guide found here, which should help make sure you are fully logged in and using the latest version of the application. IMPORTANT! We do advise that you install the Teams app for when it comes to accessing the meeting.
Creating a meeting link (including recurring meeting, inviting & sharing link)
Create a meeting via your university calendar on Outlook or Office 365 webmail;
Create a meeting via Teams itself;
Webinar
Meetings generally include a lot of interaction among the participants incl. students. Webinars are more controlled with added options for Q&A and polls. A key difference between webinars and Teams meetings is that webinars support registration and provide attendee engagement data.
Webinars are not recommended for standard on-line lectures as students should not have to register to attend these. However, they can be useful when setting up larger university-wide online events and online events with a number of external attendees.
