Rollover is coming: eLearning Services Staff Newsletter #7

Summer 2016
eLearning Services Staff Newsletter #7

Our Moodle ‘end of year’ process will commence on Monday 18th July 2016.

The Upgrade & Rollover Summer 2016 post has all the details, and Staff – Moodle End of Year/Rollover Process – Summer 2016 fully explains the process and what to expect.

Please do read the links above, but here are the key points to be aware of:

Please stop editing your 2015-16 sites!

Please refrain from renovating your current Moodle sites (unless you have requested a copy of the site to work in) until they have been copied over to the new Moodle platform for the coming academic year 2016-2017.

Let us know about any changes

To ensure that students are enrolled onto the correct modules at the start of the academic year, let us know of any changes that we should be aware of.  If you wish to request a new Moodle site, update the details for an existing one, or set up / update a Moodle Meta Course arrangement then please contact us.

When will Moodle be inaccessible?

Please note the following downtime is expected where you will not have access to Moodle:
Moodle 2015-16:
– Monday 18th July 14:30 to Tuesday 19th July 09:00
– Monday 1st August 08:00 – 10:00.
Moodle 2016-17:
– Monday 1st August – Thursday 4th August.

When will I and my students have access?

Staff: On Thursday 4th August 09:00, Moodle 2016-17 will become available to staff only so that they can continue making preparations for the coming academic year.

Students: At the beginning of the new academic year, students will be enrolled onto Y and A modules. More information will be sent closer to the time.

What happens to the 2015-16 Moodle site?

Current Moodle sites become ‘archive’ sites and remain accessible to current students during the remainder of their course. For further advice see: Moodle Archive Sites: What are They and Why have Them?
