The Moodle Progress Bar Block

One way of giving your students a quick view of their progress on a particular module in Moodle is by using the Progress Bar block.

The Progress Bar block in Moodle is a time management tool that provides students with a visual display of their engagement or completion of selected activities and resources on Moodle.

Key features are listed below:

  • A time-management tool for students:
    • Shows progress of activities/resources in a course.
    • Colour coded to quickly see completed/viewed resources or activities.
  • Lecturers can select which pre-existing activities/resources are to be included.
  • Can be ordered by times/deadlines of the activities or resources to be completed or the way they appear on the module site.
  • Provides an overview page for teachers showing progress of all students.
  • Easily identify and contact at-risk students.

The screen shot below shows the students view of the progress bar.
